History
Through generations, Mr Chen - the founder of Shu Shin Bou, was born in a family proud and passionate for their confectionery company in Taiwan. While growing up he endured a rich background in the world of confectionary, and discovered his interest in Japanese cultures and fascinated by their traditional desserts- Wagashi in particular.
His dream of becoming a world renowned Japanese dessert master bought him from Taiwan to Japan at a very young age. His determination and sincerity finally moved Sir Natsume Shin a well known Wagashi expert in Japan, who has mastered Japanese desserts for more than 50 years. Working as an apprentice for Mr Shin, Mr Chen lived, studied and trained in a world that was new and at first quite distanced for him, but later became a part of him and a part of his story.
He realizes the making of Wagashi is not simply carrying out the expertise that has been past down for centuries; the essence is the meaning and the reason behind it. This is where the name Shu Shin Bou comes in. Shu Shin originally carries the meaning of a gift that is presented in the season of spring, later it was defined not only as the symbol of a gift, but also the bonds and relations between individuals. This holds the foundation of our products; they represent gifts from us to you, gifts from you to your family and friends and gifts between individuals which brings all of us together.
